Joomla Bamboo Review Rocket Theme Review Template Plazza Review Joomlart Review

The standard Joomla install looks pretty bland, and think how boring the web would be if all these Joomla sites all looked the same. That is where templates come in. Templates allow you to completely changethe layout and look of your Joomla site, and with a little bit of work you end up with an individual site just for you. There are many places where you can get Joomla templates, but I've reviewed the best of them for you right here.

Template Plazza Detailed Review:

About Template Plazza

In recent months Template Plazza has really stepped it up a notch. A rapidly improving club that has seen a dramatic improvement in quality in a short period of time. With 30 templates available now, it will be interesting to see if this improvement continues in the coming months.

What version of Joomla do the templates work on - Joomla 1.x or 1.5 ?

Unfortunately it is only the most recent templates that are Joomla 1.5 compatible. All older templates are designed and function on Joomla 1.x. There are some useful templates in their back catalogue so hopefully they get a revisit and they can rectify this situation.

How many template are there and how often do they get updated?

As of writing there are 30 templates available. A new template is release every month, although it can be anytime during the month. That means that sometimes there could be almost two months between releases.

How good are the templates and how much can I customise them?

Template Plazza's templates are improving. The last few in particular have been excellent. However they are very much "what you see is what you get". There is not a great deal of module customisation, and layout options are fairly fixed. So unless you are comfortable editing your index file manually, or editing the supplied PSD file, then what you see on the demo site is how your site will look.

What other features and bonuses are offered?

Most of these templates include customised components to add functionality, and that's about it. They do offer a range of free components for download, however these are free to everyone and thus are not really a bonus for your membership dollar.

My Opinion

They are improving, and their latest few templates are great but they are still lagging behind the big guns. If they can update their old templates to Joomla 1.5, and make the templates a bit easier to customise then they would deserve an additional thumbs up. But if there is a template you like then their membership price is affordable enough to warrant a purchase for one template.
